There is a song that is out called "If Heaven wasn't so far away" and I always think of him when I hear it. I had only known him for prob. 5 years before he passed away but it seemed like a lifetime. The day he died I cried and cried... We lived on his property in Plant City and he moved to the Panhandle with his other son (Uncle Bill). He would visit some, and we would visit him. My brother, and I loved when Papa Ray visted because that meant CANDY and lots of it, and TOYS (anything we wanted). He would lose things from time to time like his glasses and then pay us to find it. I remember one time I wrote on the back of my parents seat with a permanent marker, when my dad found out he was going to spank me but Papa Ray told him no, that I didnt mean to do it:) He was so kind, so sweet, everyone who knew him loved him you couldnt help but love him! He was such a wonderful and caring Papa!
I dedicate this post to my Papa Ray who has been gone for quite some time now. I wonder what he would think if he saw us today, if heaven wasn't so far away!
Love you, Papa Ray!
